So its basically been 24 hours since Biden got into office, and he's done A LOT. He's already started repealing much of the damage that Trump did during the last four years, like re-entering the Paris Climate Agreement and repealing the Muslim ban.

As someone who basically came of age during the Trump administration (2016-2020), it's safe to say that a lot has really changed since my childhood. We're no longer in this world of a "post-racial society," (mostly White liberals) as people say, and we're (mainstream liberals) more conscious of people who are direct threats to our democracy. As I mentioned in my previous blog, 2020 has been a wild year, and January 2021 has already started off with a bang. With the riot at Capitol Hill and the second impeachment of Trump, I truly pray for the future of this nation under the hands of the Biden administration.

However, just because Biden is better than Trump, doesn't mean that Biden is perfect. Biden and Harris are very clearly representative of the mainstream Democrat that talks more than acts, and it will be very important to hold these politicians accountable. At the very least, some form of accountability is what I want from politicians these next few years.

So far, it seems like Biden is getting work done.

Living under the Trump Administration and through the COVID pandemic during a crucial time in my life proved to me how fragile Democracy can be, and living in a White dominated society shows how fragile our safety as minorities is.

Threats that limit LGBTQ rights, not condemning White supremacy, ignoring the plights of Black and Brown citizens, ignoring the rights and dignity of women, finding scapegoats for the COVID pandemic, these things add up and how just how much our society is very much not made for some of us.

I don't know about the next four years. I really hope these years will push more change from our society. Maybe people will push even further to the right, or the left will become complacent and enter a new "post-racial society," only to be swayed again by another right wing conservative with racist tendencies.

Only time will tell.

But for now, keep fighting.
